Directness with care
I will be honest without making the room feel unsafe.
About Eric
Warm, direct, curious, and appropriately challenging when it matters.

Eric J. Henley, MAS-MFT, LMFT
Eric has long been drawn to the stories people carry and the deeper patterns beneath the moment. His own family history taught him early how much our relationships shape the ways we survive, connect, and make sense of ourselves.
He earned a BS in Sociology with minors in Psychology and Religious Studies from Arizona State University, then completed his Master of Advanced Studies in Marriage and Family Therapy at ASU. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Arizona Board of Behavioral Health-certified Clinical Supervisor.
Eric’s style is supportive, approachable, humorous, directive, and empowering. He will listen closely, help you see the pattern, and stay with you as you practice a different way forward.

I will slow the interaction down, name what may be happening beneath it, make room for both people, and challenge the patterns that keep pulling you apart. I will not choose sides, but I will not avoid difficult truths.
Whether you come in alone or with your partner, the work is active. We will pay attention to the cycle, the story each person is carrying, and the next response that could move things in a different direction.
Why I chose couples work
When a relationship is unraveling, people are often not simply fighting about the surface issue. They are trying to protect something important, ask for connection, manage fear, or make sense of an old wound. Couples work creates a place to see that clearly and respond with more care.
Effective therapy is both compassionate and practical. It helps people understand what is happening, take responsibility for their part, and practice changes that can hold up in real life.
I will be honest without making the room feel unsafe.
We look for the pattern underneath the reaction.
Insight matters most when it becomes a different response outside the session.
A strong fit
You do not need to arrive with the right words or a perfect plan. You do need enough willingness to look at what is happening, hear a difficult truth when it matters, and try a different response. That is where meaningful change begins.
